Hello SUUSI Community!
If you had asked me in July what I’d be doing for SUUSI in November, being the Director would not have been on my list of possibilities. And yet, when Angel called to ask me to step in, I knew I had to do it. SUUSI is my spiritual home, and serving SUUSI has transformed me again and again and again. It is already doing so again. I hope that all of you will have an opportunity to also be transformed.
At SUUSI, we are asked to live out our Unitarian Universalist values the best we can, as imperfect human beings, in community. Among the values we are asked to embody are generosity and interdependence. We embody generosity by giving of our time and money to make the community we love happen. We embody generosity when we open our hearts to the communities that welcome us as guests–at WCU and in Jackson County. We embody interdependence when we remember that SUUSI is all of us doing this together, and not just a few leaders working hard for everyone.
This year I hope that we can ensure that SUUSI shines on for many years into the future. That will mean asking everyone at SUUSI to participate in service–to SUUSI or to the wider community. That will mean asking you to support SUUSI financially to make sure that the pandemic years of shortfall don’t imperil our future. That will mean thinking about how we covenant with one another as a spiritual community in deeper ways. And it will mean intentional programs for leadership development and support. Look for more about all of these things in the months to come.
In the meantime, prepare to come, or to come back, to this transformative Unitarian Universalist community that we love so much. SUUSI needs you–because SUUSI is us.

Workshop Proposals are Open
Are you interested in leading a workshop at SUUSI 2024? Do you have special skills you'd like to share with the SUUSI community, information you think would interest the group, or something you'd like to discuss? Workshops proposals are now being accepted in SOLIS. Be sure to submit your proposal by January 3, 2024
Apply for SUUSI Staff
2024 Staff applications are also open now! Log into SOLIS to find a link to the staff application. Although no one on SUUSI staff is paid, staffers receive credit towards their SUUSI registration and housing costs. Being on staff is a great opportunity to help make the magic happen and to make new SUUSI friends while you're at it.
Leadership Development Institute Coming Soon
Are you a leader? Do you want to be a leader for SUUSI? Here is your chance!! SUUSI is creating a leadership development institute and is looking for our first class! WE are creating a learning platform to build the future leaders of SUUSI. We will be using leadership classes and a mentoring program to allow people from all over SUUSI to join and learn together as we build our future. Leadership is at the core, but the education will include how SUUSI works. We are looking for anyone who has served as volunteers, been on staff or Core staff, participated as Board members or on Board committees. There will be an application in SOLIS.
